Roscos de Semana Santa

Time for sweet Easter specialties. Spanish ones obviously. As you know baked goods with butter is a no go in Easter. So olive oil it is for our base.

What you need (for 8-9)

  • 85 ml olive oil
  • 250g flour
  • 1 spoon baking soda
  • 85 ml milk
  • 1 spoon star anis
  • 1 lemon
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar and cinnamon for coating

How you do it:

Remove the peel from the lemon. Fry it together with anis to aromatise the oil. Withdraw lemon peel and anis. Let it cool down

Whisk milk with sugar and egg. Add the cooled down oil. Afterwards start adding little by little the flour until you have a kneadable dough.

Heat up the frying oil in a pan. Form the ring for the Roscos and fry them for a few minutes.

Mix sugar and cinnamon and use it to coat the Roscos.

Serve and enjoy
