St. George’s Roses

Happy St. George’s Day! A big day in Eastern Spain and especially in Barcelona. During this day lovers will give each other red roses and books to show their love for each other. What you need (serves 2)

  • 1 rectangular piece of puff pastry
  • 1 apple
  • 4 spoons cream cheese
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 spoons water
  • sugar and cinnamon

How you do it

Cut the apple in two halves. with a spoon get rid of the appleseeds. Cut the apple halves in thin stripes. Put the stripes in a bowl and cover them with cinnamon and lemon juice. Cook the halves in the microwave for 2 minutes to get them soft.

Cut the puff pastry in 8 equal stripes. Spread the cream cheese on the middle of each. Place apple slices on the upper part of each stripe. Each slice should cover half of the one placed before. Fold the lower part off puff pastry over the apple slice-half and roll it to a rose.

Oven the Roses in a cupcake or muffin form for aprox 25 mins. at 180ºC.
