Pinapple Rum Jam

Pineapple jam is not a common thing in Europe. However, in Latin America it is one of popular marmelades in the market. Especially for hot dogs (RIGHT HOT DOGS!) it is a delicious extra. Here is the recipe if you want to go for your own pineapple jam.

What you need

  • 1 pineapple (aprox 1kg fruit after peeling)
  • 1/2 cup rum
  • 500g sugar
  • vegan gel fix / pectines

If it is less fruit reduce the sugar (ratio 2:1).

How you do it:

Start by peeling the pinapple, remove the inner stem and cut into small pieces. Cover with rum and sugar and macerate for 2-3 hours.

Heat up your the fruit mix in a pot. Let it get to a cooking temperature and cook thoroughly for 5 minutes. Add your pectines / gel fix. Cook for 3 more minutes.

Remove pot from the stove and fill up your jars. Let them cool for a few hours.

Serve and enjoy
