Valentine’s Tuna Carpaccio

Valentine’s Day is in less than 48 hours. If you happen to be a last minute person needing a last minute dish, that is easy and sophisticated than why not go for a carpaccio? Carpaccio is easy to prepare, looks very “high end”, and is a perfect starter. However, when choosing the tuna be careful to go for a a nice coloured one. Usually choosing a loin for sushi is a great choice.

What you need

  • 200g tuna loin
  • 3 limes
  • 1/2 spoon sea salt
  • 1 spoon white pepper
  • spoons vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
  • chopped koriander (optional)
  • avocado and/or yoghurt cream (optional)

How you do it:

Cut the tuna loin into very thin slices. Use the sharpest knife you have or you can freeze the tuna and cut it while frozen (The frozen option helps for cutting but you will loose a lot of properties from the tuna loin)

Squeeze out the limes and mix with salt, pepper and vanilla extract/vanilla bean seeds. Use a brush to ‘paint’ the tuna slices.

This is optional but you can decorate the tuna carpaccio with some koriander and a few drops of avocado and/or yoghurt cream

Serve and enjoy
