Coconut Bloodorange Custard

SC20140307-185201-1

It has been a long time since we had some custard. We had a lot of baking so it was time to do a different kind of dessert.

What you need:

  • 150 ml bloodorange juice (use fresh squeezed juice)
  • 350 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or extract
  • 3 spoons sugar
  • 1 package custard powder

How you do it:

Heat up the orange juice until it starts boiling. With this you eliminate the citric acid which might cause some coagulation of the milk. Then add the 300 ml milk, coconut oil/extract and the sugar. Stir everything until the mix starts boiling. Mix 50 ml milk with the custard powder. Add it when the mix on the stove starts boiling. Keep continuously stirring until everything starts boiling again. Withdraw the custard from the stove and fill it into small bowls. Wait until the custard cools down.

Serve and enjoy

One small recommendation for serving

If you have some bloodorange juice left over mix it with a spoon of sugar. Use a brush to paint the custard with this tasty sauce.
